Things are growing here at Lorhill Farm!

The lettuce in the Greenhouse is growing so fast we can barely keep up! And Stevie our new calf seems bigger every day, and tears through the pasture like he owns the place!!

We hope you are having a wonderful summer 🙂

The sunny days have arrived! which means things are growing like crazy in the greenhouse.

After going through the dull winter season I always forget how beautiful the simple growing vegetable is, and to walk out into a greenhouse full of them is quite a blessing!

This year we are going our ever popular Romaine, but have decided to throw in a few extras just to try something new.  So you will see some Pak Choy and Bridgemere leaf lettuce coming out of the greenhouse as well.

We have also been testing out some spinach to see how it grows hydroponically.  As you can see the root system is insane! and the leaves have been growing to about the size of my face.  I think it may be a one spinach leaf per smoothy type of deal! 🙂

We have already had two amazing weeks at the Wilmot Summer Market, and are enjoying getting back into the market swing.

Please take the time over the summer to come check out the Wilmot Summer Market, there are a lot of great vendors there.

World Labyrinth day – Walk as One at 1pm
Well the many days of rain have made the woods and the labyrinth too wet and mucky for us to walk today. I am afraid we have to cancel our walk today here at the Knoll. So instead of coming out here to walk, please take a few moments and be silent, walk softly wherever you may be and pray for peace in our hearts and in our world.
A blessing from the late John O’Donohue,
“May all that is unforgiven in you be released. May your fears yield their deepest tranquilities. May all that is unlived in you blossom into a future graced with love and peace.”
Thanks and Blessings from the Knoll
Saturday, May 6th 2017 is World Labyrinth Day, and you are invited to
‘Walk as One at 1pm.’
Be a part of a rolling wave of peaceful energy as the earth turns. People all around the world will be joining together to Walk for peace at 1pm in their local time zones. Here at Lorhill Farm we have registered our Labyrinth for this global walk for peace.
If you are interested in joining the Walk as One at 1pm at Lorhill Farm, head on over to The Knoll section of this site and you can contact Patricia there.
When you register, we will send you confirmation and instructions on where to go and park.
Come dressed for the weather, we are outside, beside the woods.
We will have a short presentation (some readings etc.) followed by an invitation to walk as one for peace in our troubled world.
There will be a free will donation box, if you wish to support Patricia’s labryinth work.
We look forward to seeing you on the path!
WEATHER CONDITIONS – Please check the Lorhill website the morning of the walk – because this is an outdoor labyrinth, we may have to cancel if it is too wet. We will post this on the Lorhill website and Facebook page on the morning of May 6th, so make sure you check in before heading out.

So our calendars say that “Spring has Sprung,” although the temperature outside has me less then convinced!

Although no matter the weather we all know that we are heading into the season of cleaning. Whether it be spring cleaning indoors or outdoors it is a task that is awaiting most of us no matter how excited or anxious we may be about it.

We here at Lorhill Farm can’t offer help for your indoor projects, but we can offer our assistance for all that outdoor work.

When you look out your window (and it looks like my yard above!) and you lean more toward the anxious feelings rather then excited, then please send Maegan at Lorhill Gardens a message.  She would love to discuss with you your hopes and dreams for your outdoor space.  Whether it be spring clean up, installs or regular garden maintenance Lorhill Gardens can assist you with it all.

Head on over to the Lorhill Gardens tab to read more about Maegan and her team, and feel free to contact her with any of your questions.

Happy Spring Planning!
